Abstrakt
Sprawne instytucje, jasne normy i rytuały społeczne zapewniają ład i przewidywalność, pozwalają definiować sytuacje społeczne. Kryzys, choroba, wyrwanie z rutyny, to sytuacja, w której zawodzą instytucje, normy przestają być czytelne, rytuały nie spełniają swojej funkcji. Wtedy nie potrafimy nazwać tego, co jest, przewidzieć tego, co będzie. By wrócić do równowagi szukamy terapii. Autorka interpretuje sytuację uchodźców na polsko-białoruskiej granicy jako „legitymizowaną chorobę obojętności”, korozję charakteru, przez którą tracimy z oczu kruchość życia. Pyta o terapię na tak zdiagnozowaną chorobę. Czy nowoczesna kultura ma zdolność samoodnowy, autoterapii? Czy narracyjne ramy, rytuały i normy pozwalają odtworzyć publiczne zaangażowanie, zwrócić uwagę na tych, którym potrzebna jest pomoc?

Corrosion of character and morbid helplessness. On the need for interpretative frameworks and social norms
Abstract
Efficient institutions, clear norms and social rituals ensure order and predictability and allow to define social situations. Crisis, illness, and breaking out of routine are all situations in which institutions fail, norms cease to be clear, and rituals do not fulfil their function any more. This is when we cannot name what has happened or predict what will occur. In order to return to some kind of harmony, we look for therapy. The author interprets the situation of refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border as a „legitimised disease of indifference”, an corrrosion of character that makes us lose sight of the fragility of life. She asks about the therapy for the disease that has been diagnosed in this way. Does modern culture have the capacity for self-renewal and for self-therapy? Do narrative frameworks, rituals and norms allow us to recreate public engagement, and to turn our attention to those who need help?
